Hoop earrings have a way of fitting into almost any look, whether you wear a small pair on its own or build a fuller stack around it. Size makes a noticeable difference: smaller huggies sit close to the lobe and feel barely there, while larger hoops frame the face more clearly and create more movement as you wear them. Our hoop collection ranges from small huggies to 35mm statement hoops, with inside-out and alternating-cut designs, in a choice of 14K or 18K gold in yellow, white and rose tones.

Hoop Size and Diamond Design

Diameter changes the whole feel of a hoop, from a small huggie that adds just a hint of sparkle to a full 35mm hoop that makes a real, deliberate statement. Smaller hoops tend to feel more discreet and stay easier to combine with other earrings, while larger diameters create more movement and make the earrings a more visible part of the overall look. The width of the hoop matters too: a slim hoop has a lighter visual presence, while a wider design looks more substantial even at the same diameter.

The diamond design changes the character of the hoop as well. Most diamond hoops set stones in a continuous line along the front-facing side, creating an even, uninterrupted row of sparkle. Other designs alternate different cuts, combining round brilliants with baguettes or marquise shapes instead of repeating the same stone throughout. This creates more contrast between the stones and gives the hoop a more geometric, structured look.

Inside Out

An inside-out hoop sets diamonds along the inner edge of the hoop rather than the outer edge, so the stones face toward your face and catch the light as the hoop moves, rather than facing outward, where they mostly catch the eye of whoever's standing next to you. It's a small design shift that changes who the sparkle is really for.

Choosing the Right Closure

The closure is one of those details you notice most when you actually put an earring on. Some hoops open wide enough to make fastening effortless, while others have a small, precise mechanism that takes a little more care but leaves the finished earring looking almost seamless. The difference can also matter if you tend to change your jewelry often, wear several earrings in the same ear, or prefer to keep a pair in for longer periods.

With hoop earrings, the choice usually comes down to three main options: click closures, hinged closures and traditional post-and-back fastenings. Click closures are built into the hoop and snap shut once the post passes through the opening, leaving no separate back to attach or keep track of. Hinged closures use a moving section of the hoop to open and close, while post-and-back designs have a separate backing that secures the earring from behind.

Choosing Your Metal

With larger hoop earrings, the choice of metal is not only about colour. The metal contributes to the overall weight of the earring, so it is worth considering alongside the hoop's diameter and construction. Our hoops are available in 585 and 750 gold, in yellow, white and rose tones, giving you a choice between different levels of gold content without having to compromise on the colour you prefer.

  • 585 (14K) gold hoop earrings contain less pure gold and more alloy metals than 18K gold. The higher alloy content makes 14K harder and more resistant to everyday wear, while its slightly lower density can also make a piece marginally lighter when the same design is made in both alloys.
  • 750 (18K) gold hoop earrings contain more pure gold and have a higher density than 14K. In a large or substantial hoop, this can contribute to a little more weight, so if your priority is keeping a larger pair as light as possible, 14K can be the more practical choice.
