A halo is usually the shape people reach for when they want a ring that turns heads the moment it catches the light. Surrounding the centre diamond with a ring of smaller stones is what gives it that extra presence — it reads as larger and brighter than its actual carat weight would suggest on its own. Here, halo rings are available in round, princess, oval and other cuts, in natural and laboratory-grown diamonds, with central stone weights from 0.50 to 3.00 ct and a choice of 14K or 18K yellow, white or rose gold, or platinum. Every ring comes with an IGI certificate, so you can review a diamond's characteristics before you choose.

Framing Any Diamond Shape

Choosing a centre shape for a halo works a little differently than for a solitaire, since the ring of smaller diamonds around it, known as melee, is cut to match the centre stone's outline. Round and cushion centre stones leave the least gap between the two, since both shapes are naturally rounded. Princess, emerald and Asscher centre stones, with their rectangular step-cut outline, are often paired with a matching rectangular halo for a more architectural look, while a cushion-shaped halo can soften even a sharp-cornered centre stone into a rounder overall silhouette.

Our halo collection also includes three-stone halo designs, with a centre stone and two halo-framed side stones, and accented-shank options that add a line of diamonds along the band for even more sparkle.

Choosing Your Metal

With a halo's extra sparkle already doing a lot of the visual work, the metal you choose still shapes how the whole ring reads:

  • Yellow gold halo rings carry a warm tone that contrasts against the diamonds, keeping the halo visible as its own distinct ring around the centre stone.
  • White gold halo rings get a bright, cool finish from a rhodium coating that blends in between the diamonds, so the halo reads as one continuous ring of sparkle; occasional re-plating keeps that finish looking its brightest.
  • Rose gold halo rings have a warm pink hue that, like yellow gold, contrasts against the diamonds and gives the halo clear definition, along with natural resistance to everyday wear.
  • Platinum halo rings offer the same blending effect as white gold, without ever needing rhodium plating, plus a denser, heavier feel than gold.

For yellow, white and rose gold, 14K contains more alloy metal for extra scratch resistance, while 18K contains more pure gold for a richer color.

Choosing Your Diamond

Once you've settled on a style, stone shape, and metal, two more choices remain: where the diamond comes from, and its quality. Natural diamonds formed underground over billions of years, while lab-grown diamonds are created in a matter of weeks through a process that replicates those same conditions. Both are genuine diamonds, chemically and physically identical, and neither should be confused with simulants like cubic zirconia or moissanite — the choice comes down to personal preference, not quality.

Quality itself is measured by the 4Cs: carat weight (the diamond's size), colour (graded from colourless to visibly tinted), clarity (the presence of natural inclusions; ours are typically VVS/VS, meaning they're difficult to see without magnification) and cut (how well the diamond reflects light). Every engagement ring in our collection comes with an IGI certificate detailing these characteristics.
