Sorting

A stud earring might be the single most worn piece of jewelry there is, small enough to sit through a full workday, sleep and a shower without asking to be taken off, and versatile enough to work with almost anything you put on. That mix of practicality and sparkle is usually why it's the first pair of diamond earrings people buy, and often the last pair they take off. Our stud collection includes solo diamonds in a range of cuts, cluster and halo designs, and styles for both women and men, in a choice of 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, white and rose tones.

One Stone, Every Shape

The simplest stud is a single diamond, and the cut you choose changes the character more than almost anything else about it. Round remains the classic, maximum-brilliance choice, while princess and cushion cuts bring more geometric structure, and oval, pear or marquise studs read as a little more elongated and distinctive. The setting matters too: a classic four-prong stud shows off more of the stone and lets in the most light, while a bezel setting wraps a rim of metal around the edge for a lower, more protected profile — worth considering if you tend to catch earrings on scarves, hoods or hair. Because there's only one stone doing the work, cut and setting really are the whole design here.

Cluster and Halo Designs: More Sparkle, More Presence

For more presence without a larger single stone, cluster studs group several smaller diamonds together into one dense, sparkling shape, while halo studs surround a centre stone with a ring of smaller ones, making it read as larger than its actual carat weight — the same effect used on halo engagement rings, just scaled down to the ear. Both are usually listed by total carat weight rather than the size of a single stone, since the sparkle comes from the group rather than any one diamond, so it's worth checking that figure rather than assuming it works the same way a solo stud's carat weight does.

Studs for Him

Stud earrings aren't only a women's category, and ours lean toward more substantial designs rather than a single understated stone. Most men's studs here are cluster or pavé earrings — a dense arrangement of smaller diamonds set into a round, cushion or square shape — sometimes framed with an extra halo ring for more definition, or mixing round and baguette-cut stones within the same square design for a more geometric look. The effect reads as more deliberate and substantial than a solitaire stud, without relying on one large centre stone.

Choosing Your Metal

Diamond earrings come in 14K or 18K gold, in yellow, white or rose tones. Stud earrings are also available in sterling silver. Yellow gold has a warm, classic feel and tends to show smudges and everyday wear less than a bright white finish. White gold gives a cooler, more contemporary look that makes a diamond read as more neutral against it, though it needs occasional re-plating to stay at its brightest. Rose gold has a warm, romantic tone that tends to suit a wide range of skin tones. Silver shares white gold's cool tone at a lighter weight, though it tarnishes over time and needs occasional polishing to keep its shine.

For the gold tones, 14K contains more alloy metal, making it more resistant to the everyday scratches and knocks an earring picks up going in and out of a bag or a jewelry box, while 18K contains more pure gold for a richer, deeper colour.
