A hidden halo is the style to choose when you want extra sparkle without making the surrounding diamonds the first thing people notice. Set beneath the centre stone, the hidden halo catches the light from the side and creates a subtle frame of brilliance, making the diamond appear larger while keeping the overall design clean and elegant. Our collection includes hidden halo rings with round, princess, oval and other diamond shapes, available with natural or lab-grown diamonds, central stone weights from 0.50 to 3.00 ct, and a choice of 14K or 18K yellow, white or rose gold, or platinum. Every ring comes with an IGI certificate, so you can review a diamond’s characteristics before you choose.

Framing Any Diamond Shape

Choosing a centre shape for a hidden halo is about finding the right balance between the stone’s outline and the sparkle beneath it. Round and cushion diamonds create a naturally soft, rounded silhouette, while oval and pear-shaped stones can emphasise a more elongated, graceful look. Princess, emerald and Asscher diamonds pair especially well with a hidden halo when you want to preserve their clean, architectural lines while adding brilliance from the side.

Unlike a traditional halo, the smaller diamonds are not fully visible from above, so the centre stone remains the main focus. A hidden halo can also be combined with a plain or diamond-accented shank, depending on whether you prefer a more understated look or want the sparkle to continue along the band.

Choosing Your Metal

With a halo's extra sparkle already doing a lot of the visual work, the metal you choose still shapes how the whole ring reads:

  • Yellow gold halo rings carry a warm tone that contrasts against the diamonds, keeping the halo visible as its own distinct ring around the centre stone.
  • White gold halo rings get a bright, cool finish from a rhodium coating that blends in between the diamonds, so the halo reads as one continuous ring of sparkle; occasional re-plating keeps that finish looking its brightest.
  • Rose gold halo rings have a warm pink hue that, like yellow gold, contrasts against the diamonds and gives the halo clear definition, along with natural resistance to everyday wear.
  • Platinum halo rings offer the same blending effect as white gold, without ever needing rhodium plating, plus a denser, heavier feel than gold.

For yellow, white and rose gold, 14K contains more alloy metal for extra scratch resistance, while 18K contains more pure gold for a richer color.

Choosing Your Diamond

Once you've settled on a style, stone shape, and metal, two more choices remain: where the diamond comes from, and its quality. Natural diamonds formed underground over billions of years, while lab-grown diamonds are created in a matter of weeks through a process that replicates those same conditions. Both are genuine diamonds, chemically and physically identical, and neither should be confused with simulants like cubic zirconia or moissanite — the choice comes down to personal preference, not quality.

Quality itself is measured by the 4Cs: carat weight (the diamond's size), colour (graded from colourless to visibly tinted), clarity (the presence of natural inclusions; ours are typically VVS/VS, meaning they're difficult to see without magnification) and cut (how well the diamond reflects light). Every engagement ring in our collection comes with an IGI certificate detailing these characteristics.
